While I love writing picture books, I have also been working on two very different kinds of stories for a long time. Years, in fact. Recently, I completed a mentorship with the extremely talented Merilyn Simonds and under her guidance revised my first novel which I then sent off to Canadian publishers. While awaiting responses, I got to work on my second novel. I had lots of time to work on it because I recently took a leave of absence from my job as a teacher in order to focus on writing. While this leave was never tied to any expectation of success, I am thrilled to announce that I just signed my first adult publishing contract with Cormorant Books for both of my novels!
